I'm on the verge of joining the "cheesecake-sucks" movement favoured by D and, because this memory popped up, the mice. Haha, I just can't with the nostalgia... Anyway, I've always rather enjoyed cheesecake. I mean, it's cake, it's cheese, what could possibly go wrong.
Strike one. Some months ago our local shop got a range of soft-bisquit-tiny-cake type of things. The chocolate and, uh, whatever the third taste was, ones were very nice, so also got a cheesecake-flavoured pack that D declared inedible on the first bite. After not being allowed to eat any wheat-sugar-etc things for ages, once I finally got to try them, I actually rather enjoyed the experience. (But also haven't gotten any more, so...)
Strike two. To use up an about-to-expire city subsidy yen coupon, got a few slices from the fancy cheesecake cafe at the station we'd never ever go to otherwise. And for a good reason. The chocolate-protein one was truly near inedible, even for me, the blueberry one was a bit better, but on top of my head, I could still name at least a hundred things I'd rather eat instead.
Strike three. D's turn to follow dietary restrictions after a stomach procedure, so I got a pile of random jellys and pudding etc, including one that claimed to be "hokkaido butter" taste. Note - no mention of cheesecake here. But that is exactly what it tasted of - a spoiled cheesecake that even I with my pudding-addiction and thus-far-insane-love-of-anything-butter-tasting was unwilling to eat.
This food has a lot of redeeming to do... :/
Cheers,
Hedi
