Tteokbokki of the *ss

Tteokbokki a.k.a stick-shaped Korean rice cake in spicy sauce, often sold as street-food is pretty darn great. Especially have fond memories of a portion consumed after a long day of insane "tourism" in Seoul from a tiny run down stall in great company. But the absolute cherry on the top, in that particular case, was the addition of cheese inside the rice sticks - just wow.
So naturally, when our local shop started selling cheese tteokbokki (spelt in some wonderfully nonsensical Japanese way I can't even remember at the moment), I happily paid the (way too high) price to try it out.
Long story short - thing turned out not to have cheese in the cakes but "cheese" in the sauce and smelled, and I am not going to bother editing or trying to be polite here, like sweat from an asscrack.
What is most absurd, though, is that the thing tasted pretty nice. Well, after I had added salt, pepper, white wine, mushrooms, butter, meat (that already had some sort of seasoning made of whoknowswhat), gochujang, actual cheese and lemon juice, that is...
Never again!

Cheers,
